Barry, our Search Engine Optimisation Specialist, will be speaking at the Digital DNA Tourism Workshop in Enniskillen on Friday 4th March. The workshops are delivered in partnership with Tourism NI are aimed at “inspiring and empowering Northern Ireland tourism and hospitality based businesses to embrace digital technologies to grow both locally and internationally”.
Barry’s session will be on planning an effective search engine optimsation strategy – he’s provided a brief overview here:
Search online for hotels and flights and you’ll get ads, aggregators and Google’s own hotel and flight finder. For small local tourism businesses it can be hard to stand out and be found.
We’ll look at how local tourism businesses can position themselves in the organic search results to increase search traffic. During this session Search Scientist will help you gain insight into how Google goes about ranking websites organically and why competitors may be ranking above you. You’ll be guided through tips on how to be found on location based search queries with the use of content, schema and Google My Business.
By the end of the workshop, delegates will understand:
- How Google ranks websites in its search results
- Why their competitors are ranking above them
- How to improve their visibility on local search queries
- The importance of reviews and customer engagement
